This is an African buffalo, also known as the Cape buffalo (Syncerus caffer), one of Africa’s "Big Five" game animals!
Fun fact:
Despite looking like a large, lumbering grazer, the African buffalo is one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. They are responsible for more deaths of big game hunters on the continent than any other mammal! When threatened, buffaloes have been known to ambush and charge predators — including humans — and can remember the faces of those who have threatened them.
Bonus: That thick shield-like structure at the base of the horns is called a “boss,” and in males, it’s so tough that it can deflect bullets!
